STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (5-5, 2-0 GNAC) posted a pair of 3-0 victories over Dean College (0-10, 0-2 GNAC) and Nichols College (1-10) in a women's volleyball tri-match at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday.
The Monks opened the day with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-9 conference victory over Dean before completing the sweep with set scores of 25-17, 25-7, and 25-13 against Nichols. In the middle match, Nichols defeated Dean, 3-1, by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-20, and 25-15.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks overcame an early deficit in the opening set and used four consecutive points on the serve of junior Riley Greenley (Newark, Del.) to take a 6-3 lead. Dean later pulled ahead by a 12-10 margin, but Saint Joseph's responded and regained the advantage for good at 14-13. The Monks scored five of the final seven points, with sophomore Addison Thomas (London, Ohio) finishing the 25-21 victory with a kill.
The teams traded points throughout a tightly contested second set that featured nine ties. Saint Joseph's took control late, however, using a kill from senior Greta Mackintosh (Plymouth, Mass.) and consecutive service aces from first-year Sophia Fallon (New Canaan, Conn.) to build a 24-19 advantage. First-year Lindsay Levesque (Arundel, Maine) closed out the 25-20 decision with a kill.
Saint Joseph's raced out to an 11-3 lead in the third frame behind three kills from first-year Jayda Quigley (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.). The Monks later used a four-point service run from sophomore Sophia Denham (Barrington, R.I.) to extend the advantage to 22-7. Greenley added an ace to bring Saint Joseph's to match point before first-year Sophie Fedorisin finished the 25-9 victory with a kill.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held a 36-14 advantage in kills and posted a .216 hitting percentage while committing just two attack errors over the final two sets. The Monks also recorded eight service aces, four total blocks, and a 51-37 edge in digs.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Fallon produced eight kills without an error on 11 attempts for a .727 hitting percentage. She also recorded three service aces and three solo blocks.
- Mackintosh added eight kills and four digs.
- Quigley and Levesque finished with four kills apiece. Quigley hit .429, while Levesque posted a .300 hitting percentage.
- Sophomore Maddie Garrett (Euless, Texas) tallied 12 assists, nine digs, and a service ace.
- Greenley contributed six assists and three service aces.
- Sophomore Livy McDonough (West Friendship, Md.) led the Monks with 11 digs.
LEADERS – DEAN:
- Maddy Seymour led the Bulldogs with seven kills, eight digs, and a service ace while posting a .304 hitting percentage.
- Emma Siniscalchi recorded seven assists, six digs, and two service aces.
- Ariella Sullivan collected a team-high nine digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Joseph's broke an 11-11 tie in the opening set with seven consecutive points, a run highlighted by two Fallon service aces and kills from Mackintosh and Levesque. Nichols pulled within four at 18-14, but the Monks maintained control and claimed the first frame, 25-17.
The Monks dominated the second set from the outset, building an 8-2 advantage before McDonough served seven consecutive points to extend the lead to 15-3. Saint Joseph's registered seven service aces in the frame and closed out a 25-7 victory with back-to-back aces from Fallon.
Nichols held a 9-7 lead midway through the third set before Saint Joseph's scored five straight points to move in front, 12-9. The Monks later broke open the frame with a 10-0 run on the serve of senior Tamya Johnson (Boston, Mass.). Mackintosh recorded two kills during the surge, and Levesque delivered the match-clinching kill in the 25-13 decision.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held a 26-13 advantage in kills and limited Nichols to a -.042 hitting percentage, as the Bison committed 17 attack errors. The Monks also registered 15 service aces and two total blocks while holding a 48-42 edge in digs.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Mackintosh led the Monks with seven kills on 26 attempts for a .231 hitting percentage.
- Levesque recorded six kills on 10 attempts and hit a team-high .500.
- Fallon collected six service aces, five digs, two kills, and a block assist.
- McDonough added four service aces.
- Sophomore Addison Thomas posted a team-high nine digs.
- Greenley handed out eight assists, while Garrett contributed five assists and six digs.
- Johnson finished with three service aces and two assists.
LEADERS – NICHOLS:
- Alyssa Morse paced the Bison with seven kills and added seven digs.
- Kaitlyn Rodrigues recorded a team-high eight digs.
- Naseem Hennouch tallied five assists, three digs, a kill, and a service ace.
- Gabrielle McKayle contributed two service aces.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Saint Joseph's is now 6-0 all-time versus Dean College while today's meeting with Nichols College was the first between the institutions' women's volleyball programs.
