PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's golf team carded a 321 (+33) to tie Maine Maritime Academy for fourth place in the five-team UMPI Invitational at Presque Isle Country Club on Friday.
The University of Maine at Augusta won the team championship with a 309 (+21), four strokes ahead of runner-up UMaine-Presque Isle. Husson University finished third with a 314.
Junior Kyle Bowlan (Pelham, N.H.) and sophomore Finn Manning (Carver, Mass.) led the Monks by firing matching rounds of 79 (+7), placing them in a tie for 10th individually. Junior AJ Davis (Turner, Maine) followed with an 80 (+8) to finish tied for 15th.
Freshman Logan Caron (Presque Isle, Maine) and senior Noah Tibbetts (Brewer, Maine) both shot an 83 (+11) and tied for 22nd overall.
Three Monks also competed as individuals. Alex Watts (Saco, Maine) tied Bowlan and Manning for 10th with a 79, Tyler Medeiros (West Greenwich, R.I.) tied for 20th with an 82 (+10), and Chase Ranger (Farmington, Maine) tied for 25th after shooting an 84 (+12).
Husson's Jace Cook claimed medalist honors with a one-over-par 73.
