STANDISH, Maine – Junior goalkeeper Ashlyn Guerette (Merrimack, N.H.) made 12 saves, including seven during a scoreless first half, as Saint Joseph's College (0-2-0) fell to Husson University (1-0-0), 3-0, in non-conference women's soccer action at the SJC Athletics Complex on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Guerette kept the Eagles off the board for more than 64 minutes despite facing consistent pressure. She turned aside two shots during the opening 11 minutes and added five more saves before intermission to send the game into halftime scoreless.
Hone Emma Nicholson broke the deadlock with an unassisted goal at the 64:05 mark. Thea Gerfen followed by converting penalty kicks in the 67th and 76th minutes to account for the final score.
TEAM STATS:
Husson held advantages in shots (17-3) and shots on goal (15-2). Senior midfielder Bridget Davis (Scarborough, Maine) recorded all three of the Monks' shots, including two attempts on goal.
THE KEEPERS:
Guerette finished with 12 saves in the setback while Husson goalkeeper Gabriella Smith stopped two shots to earn the shutout.
