STANDISH, Maine – The 2026 Saint Joseph's College field hockey regular-season schedule has been announced. The Monks are slated to play 18 games this fall, beginning with a road contest at Plymouth State University on Thursday, September 3rd at 4:00 PM and concluding with a home non-conference match-up against Thomas College on Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 PM.
2026 Schedule at a Glance
Under the direction of third-year Head Coach Theresa Arsenault '14, Saint Joseph's will play nine Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contests and nine non-conference match-ups, with an evenly balanced slate of nine home and nine road games.
The Monks make their 2026 home debut against Springfield College on Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 AM. The non-conference schedule also features challenging regional match-ups at Babson College (Sept. 8) and Husson University (Sept. 12), along with home contests against Southern Maine (Sept. 26) and Endicott College (Oct. 19).
Conference & Postseason
Saint Joseph's opens GNAC play on the road against Simmons University on Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:30 PM. The conference slate includes home games against Dean College (Oct. 7), New England College (Oct. 10), Rivier University (Oct. 17), and Regis College (Oct. 21).
The 2026 GNAC Tournament begins with quarterfinal action on October 31st and continues with the semifinal and championship rounds on November 4th and 7th, respectively. The tournament champion earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, which begins on November 13th.
Looking Back
Saint Joseph's looks to build on an impressive 2025 campaign in which the Monks finished 12-8 overall and 9-1 in GNAC play to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. SJC defeated seventh-seeded Simmons, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round before falling to third-seeded Colby-Sawyer, 2-0, in the GNAC semifinal.
Games to Watch
SEP. 26 • 11:00 AM Revenge Game
vs. University of Southern Maine
The Monks will look to snap a four-game skid against the Huskies after falling 3-2 in Gorham last season. Each of the last four meetings has been decided by two goals or fewer, with Saint Joseph's seeking its first victory over USM since the 2021 season.
OCT. 7 • 6:00 PM GNAC Champion
vs. Dean College
Saint Joseph's will have a chance to avenge last season's 4-2 loss to the reigning GNAC Champion Bulldogs in Franklin, Mass. The setback marked the Monks' first loss to Dean in five all-time meetings after SJC had outscored the Bulldogs by a combined 26-0 margin in the first four match-ups.
OCT. 14 • 4:00 PM Playoff Rematch
at Colby-Sawyer College
A budding postseason rivalry continues in New London after the teams split a pair of meetings last fall. Saint Joseph's edged the Chargers, 2-1, during the regular season before Colby-Sawyer returned the favor with a 2-0 victory at the SJC Athletics Complex in the GNAC Semifinal. The result provided a measure of revenge for the Chargers after the Monks ended their 2024 season with a 2-1 upset victory in the GNAC Quarterfinal.
