One of the top all-around outfielders to ever play at St.Joe’s, Wade Oliver will serve as a captain in 2009.

Wade came to Saint Joseph’s College as a highly regardedmulti-sport athlete from Rockland High School. Also a standoutfootball and basketball player at Rockland, Wade chose to pursuebaseball at the college level. An honor student at Rockland, Wadewas a two time KVAC All-Conference selection. Wade was alsoselected for the Frozen Ropes Underclassman All-Star Game and theMaine Senior Baseball All-Star Classic. In high school Wade playedmany different positions, plugging any holes that needed to befilled for coach Richie Oliver.

As a freshman at SJC, Wade began his college career in style. Hewas named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year as well asNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. In his first year, Wade hit.357 with 41 hits, 29 runs, and 21 RBI. Wade was also 9-11 instolen bases. As a sophomore Wade battled through injuries to haveanother fine year batting .364 with 25 RBIs, 34 runs scored, and aperfect 13-13 stolen bases. Always a clutch performer, Wade wasnamed to the 2007 North Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team.Following the season Wade was also named to the NAC All-ConferenceTeam. As a junior in 2008 Wade had another fine year, finishingwith a .341 average with 30 RBI and once again displayed hispatented diving catches in the outfield. As a result Wade was namedto the 2008 All-GNAC Team, the 2008 GNAC All-Tournament Team andbecame the first recipient of the Saint Joseph’s College GoldGlove Award. As a senior Coach Sanborn looks for Wade to providestability and leadership for the Monks lineup.

Wade is the son of Richie Oliver and Tanja Patterson.
