STANDISH, MAINE - In a hard-fought match, SJC men's
soccer suffered a tough 2-0 loss on Friday afternoon to visiting
Maine-Farmington. The Monks drop to 3-6-1 while Farmington stands
at 3-5-1.
Farmington recorded their second consecutive
shutout and first-year keeper Brian Lemont had 8 saves earning
himself NAC Rookie of the Week honors. Andy Knox scored in the 10th
minute with an assist from Jeff Tataraczuk. Craig Cameron scored on
an assist from Brian Broderick in the 34th minute.
St. Joe's held a 20-16 advantage in shots and an
8-3 lead in corner kicks but was unable to convert scoring
opportunities. Senior David Rosquete (Auburn, ME)
recorded 6 saves in the loss.
The Monks take on Colby College on Wednesday, October 12th at 3:30
pm at home.
