Bowdoin edges Saint Joe's

STANDISH, MAINE - Bowdoin College (19-10) used six hits and five Saint Joe's errors to edge the Lady Monks (12-20) by a score of 4-3 on senior day at Ward Park.

The game was tied 1-1 after 5 innings with solid pitching performances by Bowdoin starter, Caitlin Polistena (Mattituck, NY) and Saint Joe's hurler Kahler Dowling (Augusta, ME). Bowdoin scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning on three hits, a sac fly and one Saint Joe's error. Saint Joe's battled back with two runs in the bottom of the inning off new Bowdoin pitcher, Emily Nelson (Pasadena, CA), to tie the game 3-3.

In the seventh inning, Bowdoin forced one run in on one hit and two untimely Saint Joe's errors to make the score 4-3. Nelson held the Lady Monks off the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win for Bowdoin College.

Senior Darcy Lee (Windham, ME) had 2 hits for Saint Joe's and senior Kahler Dowling pitched a complete game in the loss giving up six hits, 0 walks and recording 1 strikeout.

The second game of the double header was cancelled in the third inning due to weather and unplayable field conditions. The game will not be rescheduled.
