Cambridge, MA - The SJC men's soccer team scored three goals in
the first 34 minutes and went on to record a 4-1 win over Lesley
University on Sunday.
Freshman Andrew Roberts (Ipswich, MA) picked up
the first of his two assists as he set up sophomore Kevin
Melega (Easthampton, MA) in the eighth minute of play. At
24:24, sophomore Kenny Kehoe (Cortlandt Manor, NY)
scored off a pass from senior David Hakes
(Whitefield, NH). Hakes then found freshman Doug
MacCallum (Hingham, MA) for a goal at 33:46 and gave the
Monks a 3-0 lead going into half-time.
The St. Joe's defense held Lesley scoreless until Nick Wilkins
beat Monks goalkeeper frosh Greg Cavanaugh
(Haverhill, MA) to make it 3-1 at 77:26. The Monks answered back
with a goal by senior Harrison Deah (Monrovia,
Liberia) from Roberts with just 34 seconds remaining in the match.
Cavanaugh recorded 3 saves in the win and freshman Cory
Smith (Ellsworth, ME) picked up a save in 15 minutes of
action.
The Monks play at Maine-Farmington on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1:00
p.m.
