Standish, ME - Freshman Doug MacCallum
(Hingham, MA) gave St. Joe's the lead for the second and final time
in the match as he one-timed a pass from sophomore Kenny
Kehoe (Cortlandt Manor, NY) in the 107th minute of play
and led the Monks to a 2-1 victory over Maine Maritime Academy.
MacCallum put St. Joe's on the board at 13:52 after connecting
on a pass from senior David Hakes (Whitefield, NH)
but the Mariners knotted the score on a goal by junior Alan
Alexander (Cumberland Ctr, ME) with less than seven minutes to play
in regulation.
Both teams came out aggressively after a scoreless 10-minute
overtime period and junior Ben Tourangeau (Scarborough, ME) tested
SJC goalkeeper Greg Cavanaugh (Haverhill, MA) with
a tough shot but came up empty.
The Monks had two good scoring opportunities during the final
five minutes of the period but failed to convert until senior
Harrison Deah (Monrovia, Liberia) started another
drive into the Mariner end. Deah found Kehoe who set up MacCallum
for his game winner.
Cavanaugh had 7 saves and senior Josh Heath (Bangor, ME) had 6
saves for the Mariners.
