Standish, ME - The SJC men's soccer squad picked up their second
win of the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Maine-Presque Isle on
Sunday. The Monks improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 GNAC. FR
Paul Robins (Cornwall, England) recorded a goal in
each half for St. Joe's.
Robins put the Monks up 1-0 in the eighth minute with a header
in the box off a cross by SO Doug MacCallum
(Hingham, MA). After the goal, the match remained scoreless until
the final thirty-seven seconds when Robins chipped in a dropped
ball by the keeper to seal the SJC win.
SO Eamonn Harrigan (Caribou, ME) and FR
Banak Thiwat (Cape Elizabeth, ME) each had three
shots for St. Joe's.
SJC keeper SO Cory Smith (Ellsworth, ME) had
four saves in the shut-out.
The Monks play at GNAC opponent Suffolk University on Saturday,
September 22nd.
