Box Score

PATCHOGUE, NY - Monks' freshman Corey Grant (Haverhill, MA) scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from Andre Cushing '10 (Hampden, ME) in the 50th minute to lift St. Joe's (ME) to a 2-1 lead over St. Joseph's (NY), but the Eagles went on to score twice in a span of six minutes to secure a 3-2 victory. With the loss, the Monks fall to 1-1 on the year and will face off against SUNY-Plattsburgh tomorrow at noon in the consolation game of the St. Joseph's (NY) College Tournament.

The Eagles, the 2008 Skyline Conference Champions, struck first with a goal from Craig Ceruti at the 19:32 mark, but the Monks countered 10 minutes later when Doug MacCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) beat SJCNY keeper Michael Dougherty to knot the game at 1-1. Matt Barlion '13 (Auburn, ME) recorded an assist on the play.

Grant's marker came four minutes into the second half, but the lead was short-lived for the Royal Blue. Eagles forward John Dettori scored a pair of unassisted goals to clinch a 3-2 victory for the host team.

For the Monks, keeper Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made five saves while MacCallum and Michael Sanfillippo '12 (Walpole, MA) both steered three shots on goal in the loss.

Dougherty made 10 saves for St. Joseph's (NY).
