Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (9-11, 5-3 GNAC) and Suffolk University (12-12, 4-4 GNAC) split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball doubleheader at Richard W. Bailey Field on Saturday afternoon. The Rams opened with a 4-0 victory and the Monks answered with a walk-off 4-3 triumph in the nightcap.

GAME ONE – SUFFOLK 4, SAINT JOSEPH'S 0

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Suffolk broke open a scoreless stalemate with three runs off two hits and a Saint Joseph's error in the top of the fourth, when sophomore designated player Jill Pulek (Cheshire, Conn.) doubled in junior center fielder Devlin Frost (Tewksbury, Mass.) and later scored on a throw after junior catcher Delaney Sylvester (Worcester, Mass.) singled to center.

The Rams tacked on an insurance run in the fifth when Pulek notched a bases-loaded single, scoring senior left fielder Morgan Parmeter (Maynard, Mass.) to account for the 4-0 final.

IN THE CIRCLE:

Saint Josephs' senior Kylie McFadden (Dover, N.H.) allowed four runs (two earned) off eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort. She falls to 4-4 on the season with the loss.

Suffolk junior hurler Ali Yamakaitis (Avenel, N.J.) scattered four hits with three walks and a pair of punch-outs in the complete-game shutout performance. She improves to 6-6 on the year.

The Monks scored twice off three hits in the fourth, when Murphy plated Pomerleau and sophomore Joelle Casey (Kittery, Maine) – who entered as a pinch-runner for Murphy – scored when senior third baseman Mariah Harrison (Buxton, Maine) doubled off the wall in center field.

The conference rivals traded runs in the sixth when Suffolk senior Lindsay Pagano (Wyckoff, N.J.) plated Natalie McAllister (Malden, Mass.) with a base hit to center and sophomore first baseman Melodie Bailey (Lebanon, Maine) scored on a Kristal Smith (Pittston, Maine) double to center.

The Rams tied the game with two runs off two hits and an SJC miscue in the seventh, when Frost drove in Jaclyn Flint (Medfield, Mass.) with a groundout to second and Zulia scored on a throwing error.

Smith improved to 3-4 after allowing three runs (two earned) off eight hits and three walks with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
