Monks Skate Past AMCATS, 19-1

PAXTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (3-3, 3-0 GNAC) toppled Anna Maria College (0-4, 0-4 GNAC), 19-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse contest on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Seniors Brittany Arsenault (Westbrook, Maine), Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) and Kara Kelly (York, Maine) netted three goals apiece as the Monks outshot the AMCATS by a 38-5 margin in the one-sided victory.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (38-5), ground balls (27-11) and turnovers (16-33).

THE KEEPERS:

Kaylin Mansir (West Gardiner, Maine), started for the Monks producing a pair of saves on three shots faced in just over 45 minutes of participation.

Madelyn Nelson (Casco, Maine) finished the game for Saint Joseph's adding a save on the day.

Emma Walsh (Dracut, Mass.) tallied 16 saves and allowed 19 goals in today's loss.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Kayla Kelly contributed with three goals on four shots, three draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls
  • Arsenault posted three goals on four shots, two ground balls, one draw control and caused turnover
  • Kara Kelly supplied three goals, two ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover
  • Sophomore Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) scored two goals with an assist, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers
  • Junior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) added a goal with three assists, three ground balls, and four caused turnovers
  • Sophomore Emily Ryan (Wakefield, Mass.) scored two goals with an assist
  • Sophomore Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) chipped in with a goal, two assists and three draw controls
  • Freshman Logan Champlin (Alfred, Maine) scored two goals

LEADERS – ANNA MARIA COLLEGE:

  • Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, Mass.) had two shots on goal, an assist and scooped a couple of ground balls
  • Alyssa Vaca (Wakefield, Mass.) had the lone goal for the AMCATS for her only strike at goal
  • Riley Cote (Tewksbury, Mass.) piled up five draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 4-0 all-time versus Anna Maria College.
