Box Score

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (4-10, 2-5 GNAC) toppled Albertus Magnus College (5-9, 1-7 GNAC), 16-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks battled through a slow start as the game stood at a 1-1 tie after Albertus goalkeeper Dane Walsh scored on a hail mary clearing attempt at the 6:20 mark of the first quarter. Junior Noah Tierney-Honan (Dracut, Mass.) lifted the hosts to a 2-1 lead with his 15th marker of the season with 3:14 remaining in the opening frame.

As it played out, the Tierney-Honan tally kicked off a 15-goal scoring surge, as 10 different SJC players hit pay dirt during the remainder of the contest. The Monks managed to score five man-up goals in the runaway victory.

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the contest the Monks held a brief ceremony to honor the program's six seniors: Peyton Bickford (New Boston, N.H.), Michael Janocha (Southampton, Mass.), Nathan Landry (Derry, N.H.), Wyatt LeBlanc (Arundel, Maine), Nathan Varle (Saco, Maine), and Gunnar Wade (Lewiston, Maine). The players were joined by their parents and close family members on the field in recognition of their contributions to the men's lacrosse program over the last four years.

TEAM STATS:

The Monks held the lead in shots (71-16), shots on goal (36-4), ground balls (55-22), face-offs (10-9), and caused turnovers (17-2) on the afternoon.
