Cadets Clinch Victory with Narrow Win Over Monks

Cadets clip Monks 1-0 Late in the Second half

The Saint Joseph's College Monks took on the Norwich University Cadets on Tuesday evening
in Standish. The last match between the Monks and Cadets came in the GNAC playoffs almost
a year ago when the Cadets ended the Monks season with a 1-0 win. The Monks look for
revenge as they reach the midpoint of their regular season. The Monks are 3-5-1 while the
Cadets are 3-4 prior to the match.

90 minutes of back-and-forth soccer between the Monks and Cadets led to a close match. The
first half ended scoreless, Norwich recorded 3 shots and Saint Joe's had 5. With 3:53 left in the
game, Norwich capitalized off a corner kick and put one past the Monks defense. Senior
Defenseman Cullen Swett scored off a pass from fellow Senior Defenseman Jeremy Pless.
Norwich rode their 1-0 lead all the way to the end of the match.

Sophomore Defenseman Diego Robinson led the Monks with two shots on the net. Sophomore
Midfielder Kyle Clairmont (Williston, Vermont), and Freshman Forward Curtis Metcalf (South
Portland, Maine) each had one shot on the net.

Senior Goaltender Liam Foley ended the match with 2 saves and 1 goal allowed. Norwich
Goaltender Nicolas Lanza made 4 saves.

The Monks will face Mitchell College on Saturday, October 5th, at 4:30 pm in Standish.
