CHICOPEE, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College clipped Elms College, 1-0, in an evenly-matched Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a lot of back and forth play, the Monks broke the scoreless stalemate in the 77th minute when Sydney Gallop netted her first goal of the season.
Elms fired back after the Gallop goal with a shots in the 78th minute and another with a save by goaltender Ashlyn Guerette nearing the 84th minute of play.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the edge in shots on goal (6-3) while Elms kept the edge in shots (13-11) and corner kicks (7-0) in the conference contest.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC first year Ashlyn Guerette made three saves to earn her first career shutout.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 5-0-0 in the history of the series with Elms College.
