STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College secured a 2-1 victory over New England College in a hotly contested women's soccer match at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday evening. The Monks and Pilgrims partnered together to bring attention to the importance of mental health during tonigh'ts matchup. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

NEC kicked off the scoring with a goal in the 60th minute of play after battling through a scoreless first half. Sydney Gallop, assisted by Lelia Weir, responded to the Pilgrims goal two minutes later securing the first Monks goal of te night.

With three minutes remaining in the match, Emilienne Biddings-Augustine netted the Monks go-ahead goal assisted by Alicen Burnham. 

TEAM STATS:

The Monks held the advantage in shots (18-6) while the Pilgrims held the advantage in corner kicks (4-3).

THE KEEPERS:

Ashlyn Guerette made four saves for the Monks in the GNAC win.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the win Saint Joseph's improves to 5-1 all-time versus New England College and has now defeated the Pilgrims in three-consecutive meetings.
