STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College clipped Dean College 1-0, in an evenly-matched Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday evening.
SENIOR SENDOFF:
The Monks' four seniors: Lily Wilkie (Oakland, Maine), Mack Farnham (South Portland, Maine), Shauna Clark (Oakland, Maine), and Captain Alicen Burnham (Monmouth, Maine) were honored in a ceremony before kickoff.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a lot of back and forth play, the Monks broke the scoreless stalemate at the 79:53 mark when senior Alicen Burnham netted her first goal of the season.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the edge in shots on goal (16-0), shots (32-2), and corner kicks (6-2).
THE KEEPERS:
SJC freshman Ashlynn Guerette earned the shutout for the Monks while her counterpart, Dean senior Haley Gaunt turned away 14 shots in a losing effort.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 3-0-1 in the history of the series with Dean College.
