Lasers Shut Out Monks, 1-0

NEWTON, Massachusetts –The third quarter Lasers goal lifted Lasell (9-7, 5-5) past Saint Joseph's College (7-9, 6-4) in a hotly contested Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey matchup at Lasell on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks and Lasers battled in a scoreless match for much of Tuesday's contest. During the first quarter both teams had two scoring opportunities, with Monks scoring opportunities from  Sadie Tirrell (Naples, ME) and Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, VT). In the second quarter, the Monks had two more scoring chances with shots from Isabella Littler and Abbie Jacques. The Monks offense was quieted in the third quarter with Lasell scoring the first goal of the game at the 36:26 mark and no shots from the Monks.

The Monks rallied and had five of their nine scoring opportunities in the last seven minutes of the game but the Lasell netminder kept the ball from finding the back of the cage. Monks scoring opportunities in the fourth were had by Jaques, Waryas, and three from Isabella Littler (Fayette, ME).
