Monks Field Hockey Shutout Dean Bulldogs 1-0

STANDISH, Maine. – Sadie Tirrell (Naples, Maine) netted the lone goal in the 36th minute of play to lift the Monks (5-5, 5-1) past Dean College (5-7, 2-4), 1-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey play on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) led the team in scoring opportunities with nine shots on goal with Isabella Littler following behind with four shots on net. Sadie Tirell snapped the scoreless stalemate shortly after a penalty corner play by Abbie Jaques at the 36:28 mark. The Monks continued to apply consistent offensive pressure and defensive prowess for the remainder of the game. 

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held considerable leads in shots (20-6), shots on goal (16-5), and penalty corners (7-4) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS

SJC senior starter Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine made five saves in a shutout performance while Dean netminder Sara Gardner posted 15 stops.

Saint Joseph's improves to 4-0 in the history of the series with Dean College.
