STANDISH, Maine. – New England College (9-3, 4-2) scored two goals in the second and a final goal in the fourth quarter to defeat Saint Joseph's College(5-6, 5-2), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey matchup on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Taylor Bailey opened the scoring in the 18th minute off a Adelaide Kelly assist and went on to score a goal of her own later in the quarter. Cristina Manzi added a goal in the 52nd minute of play to account for the game scoring.
TEAM STATS:
The Pilgrims held the lead in shots (16-5) and shots on goal (12-1) while the Monks and posted a 12-5 edge in penalty corners.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC senior Kassidy Collins (Pittston, Maine) played very well with 9 saves in the setback earning her 400th career save, while NEC goalie Makenzie Anderson stopped the lone shot on goal that she faced in the victory.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Saint Joseph's is now 5-4 all-time versus New England College, an institution that joined the GNAC last fall.
