NORTHFIELD, Vt.– The Saint Joseph's College Women's Cross Country team competed in the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships, hosted by Norwich University on Saturday. The Monks delivered a strong effort, finishing in ninth place out of eleven teams in the 6K race.
NEED TO KNOW:
The Monks showed consistency as they returned to the GNAC Championships this year, aiming to improve upon their eighth-place finish from 2023. Last year, Saint Joseph's accumulated 172 points to place eighth. Colby-Sawyer College won the 2023 women's title, and they successfully defended it this year with a team score of 53 points.
THE RUNDOWN:
Saint Joseph's College earned ninth place with a team score of 201 points and an average time of 29:35 over the 6K course. Colby-Sawyer College took home the team title with 53 points, followed by Emmanuel College with 83 points, and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) with 93 points.
Leading the way for the Monks was freshman
Haley Williams (Winthrop, Maine), who delivered a strong performance, finishing 6th overall with a time of 25:28.7. Fellow freshman
Olivia Bean (South Portland, Maine) followed in 37th place with a time of 28:34.2, while junior
Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) finished in 52nd with a time of 30:59.4.

Clorinda Simoneau (Freeport, Maine) placed 57th with a time of 31:01.8, and freshman
Kiley Webber (Freeport, Maine) rounded out the scoring runners for Saint Joseph's, finishing 60th in 31:51.7.
