DARTMOUTH, MA – The Saint Joseph's College Women's Cross Country team competed at the 51st UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational in Dartmouth, MA this Saturday. Racing in a deep field of teams across various divisions, the Monks navigated the challenging 5K course with commendable performances despite the tough weather conditions.
NEED TO KNOW:
At the 2023 UMass Dartmouth Invitational, the Monks were limited in numbers and did not receive a team score. They were led by
Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) with her 25:27 effort.
This year, the Monks competed with a full scoring team, maintaining their competitive spirit. First Year Rookie,
Haley Williams (Winthrop, Maine) once again led the team, securing 151st place with a time of 20:28, to kick-off her collegiate 5K debut.
THE RUNDOWN:
In a meet that featured teams from all NCAA divisions, the Monks finished 40th out of 45 teams. Brown University led the competition with 39 points and an average time of 17:49. Northeastern followed closely with a total score of 44 points (average time of 17:52), while Rhode Island secured third place with 139 points (average time of 18:29). The Monks averaged a time of 23:40.
