STANDISH, Maine — The Saint Joseph's College men's basketball team cruised to a 109-76 victory over Husson University on Saturday afternoon in the seventh annual Alumni Cup. The win improved the Monks' record to 3-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game was competitive early, with both teams exchanging leads and tying the score three times in the first five minutes. A layup from Remijo Wani evened the score at 10, but from that point on, Saint Joseph's took control. The Monks closed out the first half with a 46-27 run over the final 14 minutes, building a commanding lead at halftime.
Saint Joseph's continued its offensive onslaught in the second half, knocking down 18 three-pointers and forcing the Eagles into 20 turnovers. The Monks' offensive depth and defensive pressure allowed them to pull away and secure the 109-76 win.
Saint Joseph's will look to build on the win as they return to action on Tuesday, traveling to face Clark University at 6:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- John Paul Frazier (York, Maine) tallied 17 points with four boards, one assist and a steal
- First year Silvano Ismail (Portland, Maine) scored 12 points with two rebounds, an assist, and three steals
- Sophomore Remijo Wani (Portlnd, ME) netted 11 points, nine rebounds, a steal, and thee assists
- Junior Wani Donato (Portland, Maine) added 8 points, five caroms, two steals, and three assists
- Senior Julian Llopiz (Boston, MA) tallied 18 points to lead the Monks with four rebounds and three assists
- Derek Salvatore (Johnston, R.I.) contributed seven points, five assists, and three rebounds
LEADERS – HUSSON:
- Riles Neff led the team with 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists
- Jeremy Moronta posted 12 points and seven rebounds
- Dylan Burpee tallied 11 points

With the win, St. Joseph's improved to 3-2. The Monks return to action at non-league foe UMF on Tuesday.
