STANDISH, ME-Saint Joseph's College fell to Norwich 2-0 on Saturday. Despite a dominant offensive presence, Saint Joseph's could not find the back of the net, while Norwich capitalized on their chances to secure the win.
The game remained scoreless until the 51st minute when Norwich's Bella Roy broke the deadlock with a well-placed shot. The goal came after a period of sustained pressure from both teams, but Norwich's finishing ability proved decisive.
Norwich extended their lead in the 72nd minute with a goal from Kat Probst. The second goal put the game out of reach for Saint Joseph's, who had created numerous opportunities but were unable to convert them into goals.
Saint Joseph's showcased a strong offensive performance, outshooting Norwich 22-11. SJC managed 8 shots on goal compared to Norwich's 9, but Norwich's goalkeeper was in top form, making 8 saves to keep the Monks off the scoreboard. Leading the Monks with scoring opportunities were Alicen Burnham and Leila Weir with five attempts each. Sofia Abreau, Sydney Gallop, and Paige Sawyer each had multiple shots on goal as well. Saint Joseph's also had an advantage in corner kicks, earning 8 to Norwich's 6.
