STANDISH, ME- The Saint Joseph's College Monks took on the University of Southern Maine Huskies for an out-of-conference match-up on Monday evening in Standish. The Monks entered the game off a hot 8-0 win over Elms College on Saturday in Chicopee, MA.
The Monks struck first when Junior
Kienna Haley found the back of the net off a pass from Senior
Abbie Jacques with 0.9 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Huskies struck back with a goal from Sophomore Norie Tibbetts, assisted by Senior Sage Drinkwater 27:50 into the game. The Huskies made it 2-1 when Sage Drinkwater scored from Fifth-Year Brooke Carson at 37:01. Their third goal came unassisted from Senior Izzy Hurlburt at 48:45. The Monks rallied to tie the game off two more goals from
Kienna Haley at 49:46 and 58:32. One was assisted by Junior
Sadie Tirrell, and the other was unassisted. The Monks and Huskies headed into a 10-minute overtime to determine the winner.
With 50 seconds remaining in overtime, Southern Maine's Sage Drinkwater put one past
Kassidy Collins to record her third point of the night and give the Huskies the win. Junior Forward
Kienna Haley (Scarborough, Maine) recorded a hat trick for the Monks on Saturday vs Elms College, and again vs the Huskies. She has 6 of the Monks 11 goals this season and starred on offense for the Monks alongside Junior Forward
