Newton, MA – Saint Joseph's College secured a 4-0 victory over Lasell College at Taylor Field Monday night. The win improves the Monks' record to 2-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play, while Lasell falls to 1-4-0 for the season and 1-2-0 in league matches.
First Half: Saint Joseph's came out strong from the start. The Monks took the lead in the 10th minute when Gus Ford scored with an assist from Rion Dos Santos. Ford struck again in the 22nd minute, extending the lead to 2-0. Divin Mpinga added to the advantage with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute. The scoring spree continued with Griffin Forbes netting the fourth goal of the match in the 32nd minute, assisted by Dos Santos and Ford. Saint Joseph's controlled the game from the outset, as reflected in their 7-0 shot advantage in the first half.
Second Half: Despite Lasell's increased offensive efforts, including eight shots in the second half, they were unable to find the back of the net. Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Liam Foley made two key saves, maintaining his clean sheet. Cristian Rodriguez stepped in for the final eight minutes, preserving the shutout.
Saint Joseph's continued to press, with Curtis Metcalf and Patricio Mowa each getting off shots on net. The Monks' defensive line, led by Griffin Forbes and Diego Robinson, effectively neutralized Lasell's attacks.
The Monks are back in action on Saturday in Standish vs University of Saint Joseph for a noon kickoff.
