Saint Joseph's College Partners with NDUR to Enhance Mental Health Support for Student-Athletes

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College of Maine is proud to announce a new partnership with NDUR for Athletes, a peer-based mental health support organization dedicated to student-athletes. This collaboration highlights the college's commitment to the well-being of its student-athlete community, providing them with valuable resources to support their mental health and well-being.

NDUR for Athletes fosters a safe, peer-based community that helps student-athletes navigate the mental health challenges that often arise from the pressures of collegiate sports. The program emphasizes connection, support, and wellness, perfectly aligning with Saint Joseph's holistic approach to athlete development.

To promote the launch of the partnership, the Saint Joseph's College field hockey team recently hosted a Mental Health Awareness Game. This event raised awareness about the importance of mental health support in athletics and introduced NDUR to the broader campus community. The game served as a powerful platform for promoting the conversation around mental health and reinforcing the college's commitment to its student-athletes.

The partnership is also being supported by the Saint Joseph's College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which has been instrumental in advocating for increased mental health resources for athletes. SAAC will continue to work closely with NDUR to help build a strong support network and foster open dialogue among student-athletes about mental health.

Rob Feldman, Co-Founder of NDUR for Athletes, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, "NDUR for Athletes' mission is to create a safe and supportive peer-based community that fosters meaningful connections among student-athletes to promote mental health and well-being. Partnering with St. Joseph's College of Maine and working with dedicated professionals who truly care about their student-athletes is a privilege for us, as we strive to change the game in college athletics health and wellness support programs. We have big things ahead and are so excited for what's to come with this partnership!"

With the increasing pressures on student-athletes, both academically and athletically, the need for accessible and effective mental health support has never been greater. Through this partnership, Saint Joseph's College and NDUR will provide athletes with the tools and community needed to prioritize mental health, manage stress, and build meaningful connections.

The partnership will officially launch this fall and will be available to all student-athletes at Saint Joseph's College, with plans to extend the initiative across the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in the future.
