Monks Dominate Falcons, 115-96

NEW HAVEN, CT. - The Saint Joseph's College Monks (12-4, 4-1) defeated the Albertus Magnus Falcons (7-9, 3-2) 115-96 in a GNAC men's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half of play was dominated by the Monks after some initial back and forth play until the Monks went on a 16 point scoring run at the 9:12 mark. During the half, the Monks were able to extend their lead to as many as 26. The Monks held on to their lead to finish the first half with a 22 point lead, outscoring the Wildcats 66-44 in the half. 

The Monks continued to dominate offensively, extending their lead in the second to as many as 33 once. Stifling all Falcons attempts to chip away, the Monks maintained their lead finishing the game ahead by 19 points for a 115-96 victory. 

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • John Paul Frazier (York, ME) tallied 29 points, three rebounds, a steal, and an assist
  • Remijo Wani (Portland, ME) notched 22 points, a rebound, and three assists
  • Silvano Ismail (Portland, ME) recorded 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals
  • Braden Camire (Saco, ME) added 11 points, a rebound, and an assist
  • Julian Llopiz (Boston, MA) recorded 10 points and contributed three rebounds, three assists, and two steals
  • Wani Donato (Portland, ME) tallied six rebounds, eight assists, and two steals 
LEADERS – ALBERTUS MAGNUS:
  • Tazhon Daniels led the Falcons with 34 points, three rebounds, two steals, and four assists
  •  Ray Ford Jr. notched 21 points, four rebounds, and five assists
  • Lennox Serrano recorded 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Today's game marks the 31st contest between the Monks and the Falcons. With the victory, the Monks improve to 12-19 against the Falcons. Tonight marks the most points scored against Albertus and the second time with back to back wins since 2011.
