Haley Nets Four, Monks Blank Blazers, 8-0

STANDISH, Maine – Senior Kienna Haley (Scarborough, Maine) scored a career-high four goals to power Saint Joseph's College (6-4, 5-1 GNAC) past Elms College (0-9, 0-4 GNAC), 8-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Joseph's wasted little time getting on the board, as Haley converted a feed from Gabriella Thomas (Lewiston, Maine) just 94 seconds into play. She doubled the advantage in the 11th minute off a setup from Ava Markham (Belfast, Maine) before completing an early hat trick with an unassisted tally at the 18:14 mark.

The Monks' attack continued as senior Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) netted back-to-back unassisted goals in the 26th and 32nd minutes to extend the lead to 5-0. Markham added a goal in the 40th minute to cap a six-goal first half.

Haley struck again just six seconds into the second half—her fourth of the contest—with Markham picking up her second assist of the evening. Freshman Myia SeeHusen (Corinna, Maine) closed out the scoring in the 50th minute to secure the 8-0 victory.

TEAM STATS:

The Monks dominated the stat sheet, holding decisive advantages in shots (31-0), shots on goal (25-0), and penalty corners (13-0).

THE KEEPERS:

Saint Joseph's split time in goal, with junior Kimberley McLaughlin (Lewiston, Maine) and sophomore Gabrielle Wright (Hartford, Maine) each playing 30 minutes without facing a shot. Elms senior Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) recorded 17 saves in the setback.
