Monks Place Fifth in 2025 GNAC Championship

HAMDEN, Conn. – New England College secured its third-consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championship, capturing the 2025 crown with a 36-hole team score of 631 (+71) at New Haven Country Club on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory, the Pilgrims claim the league's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Tournament, which will be played next spring.

The Pilgrims were paced by senior Graham Hassan, who placed second overall with a two-day total of 149 (+9), while freshman Emil Elias carded a 155 (+15) to finish fourth and help seal the team title.

Host Albertus Magnus earned runner-up honors with a 641 (+81) performance, highlighted by freshman Pierson Hester, who took third overall with a 151 (+11). Junior Nick Piselli also provided a top-10 finish for the Falcons, placing ninth with a 162 (+22).

Emmanuel claimed third with a 645 (+85) effort, led by junior Ryan Brunet in sixth place at 158 (+18) and freshman Sean Fenton, who tied for ninth with a 159 (+19).

Norwich followed in fourth at 649 (+89), powered by standout Cooper Bertrand, who posted a 147 (+7) to claim Medalist of the Meet honors as the tournament's top golfer. Freshman JD Mahoney chipped in a fifth-place finish at 157 (+17).

Saint Joseph's (Maine) rounded out the top five with a 668 (+108) team card, led by Jason Curran (160; +20), who finished eighth overall.

Dean, Elms, and Mitchell completed the leaderboard in sixth through eighth place, respectively.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Freshman Jason Curran (North Reading, Mass.) – carded a 78 (+8) on day two for a two-round total of 160 (+20), climbing into 8th place overall.
  • Sophomore Kyle Bowlan (Pelham, N.H.) – posted an 82 (+12) in the final round, finishing 14th overall at 165 (+25).
  • Sophomore AJ Davis (Turner, Maine) – recorded an 84 (+14) to place 19th with a 167 (+27) two-day score.
  • Freshman Finn Manning (Carver, Mass.) – signed for an 89 (+19) to finish 28th at 177 (+37).
  • Junior Noah Tibbetts (Brewer, Maine) – rounded out the lineup with an 88 (+18), closing at 179 (+41) to finish 30th overall.
