Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Monks Hand Beavers First Loss of the Season

STANDISH, Maine – Senior forward Madison Lebel (Hermon, Maine) registered an 18-point, 17-rebound double-double and Saint Joseph's College (3-3) used a dominant fourth quarter to hand UMaine-Farmington (4-1) its first loss of the season, 68-54, in non-conference women's basketball action on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Joseph's held a 30–29 lead at the half, and the in-state rivals traded the advantage six times early in the third quarter before the hosts strung together a 13–2 run, capped by a Logan Brown (Brunswick, Maine) three-pointer, to build a 47–38 cushion—their largest lead of the game at that point. The Beavers methodically trimmed the margin back to three (49–46) with sophomore Kytana Williamson (Nobleboro, Maine) closing the quarter with a layup.

The Monks effectively put the game out of reach in the fourth, opening the frame with a decisive 15–0 surge to take a game-high 18-point lead (64–46) with 5:12 remaining. Saint Joseph's outscored UMF by a 19–8 margin in the final period and limited the visitors to a 2-for-13 (15.4%) shooting effort from the floor to seal the 14-point victory.
