STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior forward Wani Donato (Portland, Maine) has been named as the December 8th GNAC Player of the Week.
Donato claims the first GNAC weekly honor of his career after tying his career high with 27 points to go with four rebounds, four steals, and a blocked shot in an 82–81 overtime win over Colby on Saturday. He shot 45.0% (9-20) from the floor and 77.8% (7-9) at the line, fueling a rally from a 17-point first-half deficit and sinking what proved to be the game-winning free throw in the final minute against a previously undefeated Colby team that received votes in the latest D3hoops.com national poll.
Through nine games, the senior standout is averaging 14.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 51.0% (53-104) from the floor. He currently leads the team in field goal percentage, rebounding average, and blocked shots (13) and is tied for the team lead in field goals made.
Saint Joseph's will play at Endicott College on Tuesday in a non-conference contest scheduled for 7:00 PM.
