STANDISH, ME. - The Saint Joseph's College Monks (15-4, 7-1) defeated the Anna Maria AMCATS (8-12, 5-4) 103-76 in a GNAC men's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks jumped out in front with a quick six point lead to start the game off. SJC quickly took control of the game increasing their lead to 17 at the 11:50 mark. The AMCATS worked their way back into the game coming within three points of the Monks at the 2:12 mark. The Monks managed to keep the AMCATS back and entered the second half with a 42-34 lead after out shooting the AMCATS with 26-16 points in the paint and 10-6 points off of turnovers.
The Monks took their momentum into the second half and went on to outscore the AMCATS 61-42 in the second half, with a FG shooting percentage of 65.7% and 3PT shooting percentage of 52.6%. The Monks scored 18 in the paint and nine off of turnovers in the second half for the 103-76 victory.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Silvano Ismail (Portland, ME) led the Monks with a game high of 24 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
- John Paul Frazier (York, ME) contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists
- Wani Donato (Portland, ME) added 16 points, seven assists, and eight rebounds
- Remijo Wani (Portland, ME) tallied 16 points, one steal, two assists, and five rebounds

Today's game marks the 28th contest between the Monks and the AMCATS. With the victory, the Monks improve to 14-14 against the AMCATS.
