BOSTON, Mass. – Emerson College (1-2) defeated Saint Joseph's College (0-2), 16-8, in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
A fast start by Emerson proved to be the difference as the Lions surged to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and held off a St. Joseph's.
The Monks responded with a strong second quarter, netting four goals to trim the deficit to 7-4 at halftime. St. Joseph's continued to battle, closing the gap to 8-6 early in the third, but Emerson answered with four consecutive goals to regain control at 12-6.
Emerson closed out the contest with a 4-2 advantage in the fourth quarter, securing the victory on their home turf.
TEAM STATS:
Emerson held the lead in shots (44-26), caused turnovers (12-6), and ground balls (34-7), while Saint Joseph's posted a 20-7 advantage in face-offs.

Reed Wescott (Windham, ME) made eight saves and allowed 16 goals in 60:00 between the pipes
For Emerson, Elijah Turbow made 12 saves and allowed seven goals in 50:00 minutes, while Ethan Corby made one save in 6:18 and Jacob Goldberg added a save in 3:42 in the victory.
