Monks Dominate Vikings in 18-11 Victory

Hopkins records 7 points in the Monks win

SALEM, MA-The Saint Joseph's College Monks traveled down to Salem, MA on Wednesday evening to face the Salem State University Vikings for a non-conference match-up. Face-off was set for 6 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks started off strong when Sophomore Attackman, Brandon Cavicchi (Kingston, MA)
scored just 46 seconds in. The Monks lead grew to 2-0 when Senior Midfielder, Will Levesque
(Marlow, N.H.) found the back of the net. Sophomore Nic Michaud (Wales, ME) added another
tally to the scoreboard just before Junior Attackman, Tiger Hopkins (Leeds, MA) scored two
goals within 7 seconds of each other to put the Monks up 5-0 with 6 minutes remaining in the
first quarter. To add to the scoring frenzy, Senior Midfielder, Jack Leach (Danvers, MA), Senior
Attackman, Calvin Heline (Amesbury, MA), and Hopkins scored before Salem State was able to
get on the board with a goal from Matthew Lindstrom, with 15 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Vikings responded in the 2nd quarter with 3 goals from Landon Rice, Jack Michaud, and
Grady Smith. Heline scored another for the Monks, but Smith responded shortly after for the
Vikings to make it 9-5. Heline and Levesque each tallied another before Sophomore Attackman,
Joseph Kiedaisch (Westminster, MA) scored to give the Monks a 12-5 lead. Rice and Joseph
Turpin added two more goals for the Vikings before Kiedaisch added another for the Monks.
The half ended with a 13-7 Monks lead.

To start the second half, Hopkins and Junior Defenseman, Kevin Wood (Danvers, MA) each
added a goal to the scoreboard. Michaud and Turpin followed for the Vikings to make it 15-9. In
the last 38 seconds of the quarter, Heline and Hopkins scored for the Monks while Lindstrom
added a point for the Vikings.

In the 4th, the Vikings got a goal from Cameron Collins, and the Monks got one from
Sophomore Midfielder, Cam Raymond (Saco, ME). The Monks took the victory 18-11 over the
Vikings.
