Monks Fall to Panthers 11-7

Dumond records four goals in the Monks loss

PLYMOUTH, N.H.-The Saint Joseph's College Monks (1-1) took on the Plymouth State University Panthers (1-0) on Friday, February 28th, in Plymouth, N.H. in a non-conference game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the 1st quarter, the Panthers had the only goal by Elle Moshier at 11:26. Just fortytwo seconds into the second quarter, Junior Midfielder, Celia Melanson (Waterford, ME) got the Monks on the board. The Panthers recorded three goals in a row from Jenna Stowell, Moshier, and Maddie Hunt to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Panthers. The Monks rallied back with two goals from Sophomore Midfielder, Taylor Dumond (Minisink, NY) within a minute to end the half.

The Panthers took control of the 3rd quarter, scoring 4 goals from Julia Donovan, Megan Gaspa, Hunt, and Stowell to extend their lead to 8-3. The Monks were able to rally back when Dumond got her second goal of the evening, followed by a goal from Junior Midfielder, Sophia
Burton (Westtown, NY). Maddie Hunt added another for the Panthers at the midway point of the 4th quarter. Dumond notched her hat-trick and Burton followed shortly after with her second of the game to make it 7-9. The Panthers would add another goal from Moshier and one from Sammy Murphy to end the game 11-7 in favor of the Panthers.

  • Elle Moshier recorded three goals
  • Maddie Hunt netted three goals

  • Margie Black made seven saves in net for the Panthers

The Monks will travel to Waterville, ME to face the Colby College Mules on Tuesday, March 4th. Face-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
