Monks Continue Record-Breaking Season at State of Maine Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine –
The Saint Joseph's College men's track and field team competed at the State of Maine Championship on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Bowdoin College's Farley Field House. The Monks tallied 30 points to place sixth in the team standings, highlighted by two school-record performances and multiple scoring finishes across the board. Bates took home the team title with 206 points, followed by Bowdoin (197) and Southern Maine (99).

"The men continued their strong season and record-setting streak, adding two new records to the books," said Head Coach Mike Burleson. "With talent and depth across all events, we are well positioned for conferences."

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

Sophomore Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) set a new school record in the Triple Jump, leaping 13.50m (44'3.5") to place fourth in the event. The Monks also established a program-best mark in the 4x800 relay, with the team of Isaac Keresey (Pittsfield, Maine), Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.), Aidan Mills (Ontario Center, N.Y.), and Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) clocking in at 8:19.14 to secure a runner-up finish.

Sophomore Matthew Corriveau (Nottingham, N.H.) had a strong showing in the 200 meters, placing fifth in 23.12, and also picked up a point in the Long Jump, finishing eighth with a mark of 6.36m (20'10.5").


Senior Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) and junior Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) delivered solid performances in the 400 meters, finishing seventh (51.55) and eighth (51.85), respectively, to add three points to the Monks' total.


Junior Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) earned a scoring finish in the 3000 meters, placing eighth in 8:58.32, while sophomore Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) secured eighth in the Mile (4:34.41).


Freshman Junior Antonio (Portland, Maine) posted a fourth-place finish in the High Jump, clearing 1.80m (5'10.75"), while Monday followed his triple jump record with a sixth-place result in the 60-meter hurdles (8.94).

SPRINTS AND RELAYS

Noah Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) led the way in the 60 meters, finishing 16th in 7.44, followed by Carl Peters (Northwood, N.H.) in 18th (7.51) and John Read (Scarborough, Mass.) in 22nd (7.64).

In the 200 meters, Corriveau took fifth in 23.12, with Peters placing 14th (24.50), Mills in 16th (24.96), and Bobby Leydon (Braintree, Mass.) in 24th (27.00).


Ricker (51.55) and Abukar (51.85) scored in the 400 meters, with Mills (54.47) and Read (55.15) rounding out the Monks' competitors.

The 4x800 relay team of Keresey, Graham, Mills, and Ramadan shattered the school record with an 8:19.14 performance for second place. The 4x400 relay team of Batoosingh, Corriveau, Abukar, and Ricker was disqualified.

DISTANCE EVENTS

Ramadan placed eighth in the Mile (4:34.41), with Keresey finishing 11th (4:46.41). Pelletier claimed eighth in the 3000 meters (8:58.32), followed by Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) in 11th (9:43.25).

HURDLES AND JUMPS

Monday's school-record Triple Jump mark of 13.50m (44'3.5") earned him fourth place, while Lawrence Knight (Lewiston, Maine) placed 12th (12.29m, 40'4").
Corriveau took eighth in the Long Jump (6.36m, 20'10.5"), with Antonio placing 15th (6.06m, 19'10.75").

Monday also placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.94), while Read finished 22nd in the 60 meters (7.64).

THROWS

Seth Quinney (Northwood, N.H.) placed ninth in the Weight Throw with a mark of 12.51m (41'0.5"). Quinney also finished 16th in the Shot Put (10.81m, 35'5.75").
