MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD COMPLETE THREE-PEAT

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's track and field team captured its third consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Championship on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. The Monks dominated the competition, scoring 234 points and securing 10 event victories to solidify their place as the premier program in the GNAC.

"Excited for our men's team to celebrate another conference championship," said Head Coach Mike Burleson. "This is a deep and talented group who put in the work all season to make Saturday happen. We have a small group of seniors who have certainly left their mark as individuals but also as leaders to create something special."

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

The Monks demonstrated their depth with multiple standout performances across the board:

  • Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) delivered an impressive sprint double, winning the 60m (7.18) and 200m (22.41), both GNAC-leading performances.

  • Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) shattered two school records, winning the 800m (1:55.47) and mile (4:25.39)

  • Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) swept the distance events, claiming first in both the 3000m (9:15.34) and 5000m (15:44.87), with his 5000m performance marking a new school record.

  • Matthew Corriveau (Nottingham, N.H.) soared to victory in the long jump (6.65m)

  • Isaac Keresey (Pittsfield, Maine | Class of 2028) cleared a new school-record height of 3.26m in the pole vault, securing first place.

  • The 4x400 relay team of Abukar, Schmader, Ramadan, and Ricker took home gold in 3:22.03

SPRINTS AND RELAYS

Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) led the charge in the 60 meters, capturing first place with a time of 7.18, followed by Matthew Corriveau (Nottingham, N.H.) in third at 7.23. Noah Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) placed fifth in 7.30.

In the 200 meters, Abukar claimed another victory with 22.41, followed by Corriveau in second (22.64) and Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) in third (22.81).

The 400 meters saw a podium sweep for the Monks, with Schmader securing first in 50.09, Abukar placing second (50.60), and Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) finishing third (50.75).

The Monks capped off the meet with a commanding win in the 4x400 relay, as Abukar, Ramadan, Ricker, and Schmader ran a stellar 3:22.03.

DISTANCE EVENTS

Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) set two school records, winning the 800 meters in 1:55.47 and the mile in 4:25.39. Isaac Keresey (Pittsfield, Maine) placed third in both the 800m (2:00.19) and mile (4:41.21). Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) dominated the 3000 meters (9:15.34) and 5000 meters (15:44.87), the latter setting a new school record.

HURDLES AND JUMPS

Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.86), while John Read (Scarborough, Mass.) placed third (9.00).

In the field events, Isaac Keresey set a school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.26m for first place. Matthew Corriveau (Nottingham, N.H.) soared 6.65m to win the long jump, while John Read finished third (5.76m). Tudum Monday added a third-place finish in the triple jump (12.66m).

THROWS

Andrew James (Bar Harbor, Maine) placed second in the shot put with a mark of 12.38m, while Seth Quinney (Northwood, N.H.) took second in the weight throw (12.17m).

The Monks now turn their attention to the Division III New England Championships, where multiple athletes have qualified to compete. The event will be held on March 1-2, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
