Monks Cruise Past Dean, 22-8

FRANKLIN, MA-The Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse team put together a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, securing a 22-8 win at Grant Field in Franklin, Massachusetts. With the win, the Monks improve to 10-5 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Dean drops to 8-6 (4-4).

The Monks were firing on all cylinders offensively, with contributions coming from all over the field. Taylor Dumond (Minisink, NY) led the charge with five goals and an assist, while Mackenzie Siebert (Naples, ME), Ella Highbarger (Kennebunk, ME), and Sophia Burton (Westtown, NY) each netted three goals. Celia Melanson (Waterford, ME) tallied a game-high six assists and added two goals of her own.

Saint Joseph's took control early, turning a 1-1 tie into a 5-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Monks pulled away in the second, outscoring Dean 9-4 to carry a 14-6 advantage into halftime.

The defense stepped up after the break, holding Dean to just two goals in the second half while the offense kept the pressure on. By the end of the game, Saint Joseph's had outshot Dean 44-18 and won 23 of the 34 draw controls.

In goal, Morgan Wright (Chelmsford, MA) made five saves in 40 minutes before Julia Price (Newbury, MA) and Alexis Eldridge (Effingham, NH) closed things out.

For Dean, Haley Gaunt led the way with four goals, and Caroline Ramsey added two goals and two assists in the loss.
