Late-Inning Rally Lifts Monks Over Colby

STANDISH, ME- In a back-and-forth battle Wednesday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Diamond, Saint Joseph's College of Maine (17-16, 7-7) rallied past Colby College (16-11, 4-4) for a 7-4 win.

After falling behind 3-1 in the third, Colby fought back to take a 4-3 lead by the sixth. But Saint Joe's responded with four unanswered runs, capped by a clutch two-run triple from Nick Frink in the eighth that put the game out of reach.

Logan Dee (Laconia, N.H.) picked up the win for the Monks, improving to 2-1, while Colby's Michael Ciaccio was tagged with the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in the seventh. Padraig Mac Seain (Brookline, N.H.) locked down his first save of the season, tossing two scoreless innings to seal it.

Saint Joseph's made their chances count—drawing six walks, getting hit by four pitches, and capitalizing on five Colby errors. Nic Frink (Scarborough, ME) led the way with three RBIs, while Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, CT) chipped in a pair of doubles and scored twice.

Colby outhit the Monks 8-6. Ethan Hillenberg paced the Mules at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

The scoring started in the second when Hillenberg drove in Tony Silva to give Colby a 1-0 lead. Saint Joseph's answered with three runs in the third, helped by two Mule errors, to grab a 3-1 edge.

The Mules came right back with two in the fourth to tie it up and edged ahead 4-3 in the sixth on a Monks miscue.

The Monks tied it in the bottom of the inning on a Colby error, then jumped ahead for good in the seventh when Frink, after getting hit by a pitch, eventually came around on a bases-loaded walk to Nick Villano (Peabody, MA). Frink's triple in the eighth added some breathing room, and the bullpen took care of the rest.

Dee and Seain combined for 3.2 innings of shutout relief to close things out for Saint Joe's
