WATERVILLE, Maine – Husson University and the University of Southern Maine tied for top honors at the Maine-Farmington Invitational, as both teams carded matching scores of 306 at Waterville Country Club on Sunday.
Colby College placed third with a team score of 311, while Maine Maritime Academy followed in fourth at 329. The host Beavers of UMaine-Farmington finished fifth (334), with UMaine-Presque Isle (342) and Saint Joseph's College of Maine (356) rounding out the field.
Southern Maine's Jaden Poirier and Husson's Jace Cook shared medalist honors after firing even-par rounds of 72. Colby's Owen Carlson and Southern Maine's Alex Grant tied for third with matching 75s, while Colby's Johnny Kinsley and UMaine-Farmington's Caleb Harvey tied for fifth at 76.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Sophomore AJ Davis (Turner, Maine) led the way for Saint Joseph's with a team-low round of 79 (+9), finishing 11th overall after posting 42 on the front nine and a strong 37 on the back.
- Junior Noah Tibbetts (Brewer, Maine) followed with an 86 (+16), good for 23rd place.
- Freshman Finn Manning (Carver, Mass.) registered a 95 (+25) to place 34th.
- Sophomore Kyle Bowlan (Pelham, N.H.) and freshman Noah Schaeffer (Gray, Maine) tied for 35th with matching rounds of 96 (+26).
