MANCHESTER, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's golf team placed eighth with a 349-team card in the Mariners Invitational, hosted by Maine Maritime Academy, at the Augusta Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
University of Southern Maine was the top scoring team with a 286 (+6) card while Husson University placed second with a 294 (+14) mark. Colby College (302), University of New England (307), Maine Maritime (315), UMaine-Presque Isle (335), UMaine-Farmington (348), and Saint Joseph's (349) rounded out the group of team competitors in the annual event.
Individually, Alex Grant of USM took home Medalist honors after shooting a two-under 68. He narrowly edged out his teammate, Alex Fournier, who shot an even-par 70 to place second overall.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Freshman Finn Manning (Carver, Mass.) tied for 15th with a 78 (+8) scorecard
- Sophomore Kyle Bowlan (Pelham, N.H.) was tied for 25th (82, +12)
- Sophomore Noah Schaeffer (Gray, Maine) finished 36th (92, +22)
- Senior James Gignac (Portland, Maine) and freshman Charlie Gilbert (Gray, Maine) tied for 39th after both shot a 97 (+27)

Saint Joseph's will travel to Presque Isle on Thursday to compete in the UMaine-Presque Isle Invitational, which will be played at the Presque Isle Country Club.
