PORTLAND, Maine – Saint Joseph's men's golf competed in the Southern Maine Cup at Riverside Golf Course on Saturday, a Ryder Cup–style event featuring six holes of best ball, six holes of scramble, and six holes of alternate shot.
The tournament was cut short due to inclement weather, with scores reverting to the 13th hole (par 52). No team scores were kept.
USM's duos of Keenan Buteau and Quinn Dillon and Ben Aucoin and Jaden Poirier tied for first, with Buteau and Dillon earning the top spot following a chip-and-putt tiebreaker. For the Monks, Noah Tibbetts (Brewer, Maine) and Zachary Stone (Gray, Maine) placed ninth at 53 (+1), AJ Davis (Turner, Maine) and Finn Manning (Carver, Mass.) tied for 13th with a 59 (+7), and Noah Schaeffer (Gray, Maine) and Charlie Gilbert (Gray, Maine) finished 15th at 61 (+9).
Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday at the Husson Eagle Invitational in Bangor.
