STANDISH, Maine – Emmanuel College (10-5, 3-0 GNAC) defeated Saint Joseph's College (7-9, 2-2 GNAC), 72-46, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball contest on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams slogged through a sluggish start, with the visiting Saints holding a 4-3 edge 6:18 into the game. Emmanuel closed the opening quarter on a 13-5 surge—sparked by seven points from freshman forward Nylah Mitchell (Burlington, Vt.)—to take a 17-8 lead.
Unfortunately for the Monks, the second quarter proved decisive, as the Saints shot 70.6% (12-of-17) from the floor and forced eight Saint Joseph's turnovers to build a 44-15 advantage at the break.
Saint Joseph's responded with improved play after halftime but couldn't erase the deficit. A bright spot came in the final minute, when senior Sydney Gallop (Hermon, Maine) knocked down a three-pointer with 34 seconds remaining for her first collegiate field goal.

Emmanuel shot 46.0% (29-63) from the floor and scored 33 points off 36 Saint Joseph's turnovers. The Saints also did the bulk of their damage inside, tallying 56 of their 72 points in the paint.
