STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (8-7) defeated Fisher College (7-6), 3-2, in non-conference volleyball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Thursday evening. The Monks prevailed by set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 22-25, 24-26 and 15-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Saint Joseph's broke a 12-12 tie with four consecutive points in the opening set and maintained the lead to secure a 25-20 victory. The Monks carried that momentum into the second frame, recording 12 kills with just three errors for a .310 hitting percentage in a convincing 25-14 win.
Fisher rallied to take the next two sets. Saint Joseph's overcame an early 7-2 deficit to lead 19-18 in the third, but the Falcons answered with five straight points and held on for a 25-22 victory. In the fourth, the Monks erased a 20-16 deficit and moved ahead 23-22 before Fisher recovered to win 26-24 and force a deciding set.
The Monks took control of the fifth with six consecutive points to turn a 5-4 deficit into a 10-5 lead. Senior Greta Mackintosh (Plymouth, Mass.) supplied three kills during the run, while freshman Lindsay Levesque (Arundel, Maine) added a kill and sophomore Sophia Denham (Barrington, R.I.) served an ace.
Fisher fought off four match points to pull within 14-13, but freshman Sophia Fallon (New Canaan, Conn.) delivered the winning kill off a set from sophomore Maddie Garrett (Euless, Texas).
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the advantage in hitting percentage (.075-.056), service aces (8-5) and total blocks (8-2), while Fisher led in kills (46-43), assists (44-39) and digs (101-80).
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Mackintosh tallied nine kills, including four in the deciding set, and two block assists.
- Sophomore Addison Thomas (London, Ohio) recorded nine kills, 10 digs and a service ace.
- Fallon contributed six kills and a team-high five blocks, including two solo stops.
- Senior Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) added six kills and two block assists.
- Levesque posted five kills and three block assists, while senior Kylie Giakoumis (Middletown, N.Y.) chipped in five kills and six digs.
- Garrett registered a double-double with 18 assists and 14 digs, while junior Riley Greenley (Newark, Del.) handed out 15 assists and collected five digs.
- Sophomore Livy McDonough (West Friendship, Md.) led the Monks with 15 digs and added two service aces.
- Senior Sabrina Arcilla (Rivervale, N.J.) collected 11 digs.
- Freshman Lauren Dunbar (Gorham, Maine) contributed two kills, two service aces and three digs.
LEADERS – FISHER:
- Natalia Ramirez paced the Falcons with 23 kills and 24 digs.
- Anna Alongi recorded 16 kills and 23 digs.
- Alondra Farinacci posted 31 assists, 22 digs, three kills and a solo block.
- Sofia Campos contributed 20 digs and nine assists.
- Diana Rios finished with three service aces and eight digs.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
Tonight's match marked the first-ever meeting between the institutions' women's volleyball programs. The victory marked Saint Joseph's first five-set win since topping Regis College on October 22, 2025.
