BARRE, Vt. – Saint Joseph's College sits fifth among nine teams after shooting a 335 in the opening round of the 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championship on Monday at the Country Club of Barre.
New England College and Emmanuel College share the lead with matching scores of 312, while Norwich University is third with a 314. Albertus Magnus College holds fourth place with a 327, eight strokes ahead of the Monks. Dean College (347), Lasell University (368), Mitchell College (369) and Elms College (373) round out the standings after day one.
Emmanuel's Ryan Brunet and Norwich's Cooper Bertrand share the individual lead after posting matching rounds of 74.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Junior Kyle Bowlan (Pelham, N.H.) paced Saint Joseph's with an 80 and is tied for 12th among 44 golfers through 18 holes.
- Junior Zach Stone (Gray, Maine) followed with an 83 to finish the day tied for 14th.
- Senior Noah Tibbetts (Brewer, Maine) and junior AJ Davis (Turner, Maine) each carded an 86 and are tied for 22nd.
- Freshman Logan Caron (Presque Isle, Maine) rounded out the Monks' lineup with a 96 and sits 40th.

The Monks return to the Country Club of Barre on Tuesday, October 6, for the final round of the GNAC Championship. The winner of the conference championship earns an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII Championship, which will be played May 18 – 21, 2027 at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.
