STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College of Maine was highlighted on the men's side, with freshman Stephen Pierre (Turner, Maine) earning both GNAC Men's Rookie of the Week and Field Athlete of the Week recognition following a standout performance at the Maine State Indoor Championships.
Pierre put together a statement day in Lewiston, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.92m (6' 3.5") and placing second in the long jump at 6.79m (22' 3.5"), with both marks hitting New England Division III qualifying standards. He also clocked 8.53 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, meeting the New England Division III provisional standard and breaking the Saint Joseph's school record before turning his focus fully to the jumps. For his efforts, Pierre was honored with the Peter M. Goodrich Men's Field MVP Award, marking the first time a Saint Joseph's athlete has earned the award since its inception in 2003.
