LEWISTON, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's track and field team turned in a strong all-around effort at the Maine State Indoor Championships on Saturday at Bates College-Merrill Gymnasium, highlighted by a title in the high jump, a runner-up finish in the long jump, and several top-eight performances on the track and in the throws.
"We competed well today, and I feel this group is ready for the conference championship next week," said Head Coach Mike Burleson. "Our season-long work continues to show through strong performances from both our men's and women's teams. They are locking in, bringing good energy and doing the little things right which are all key this time of year to find individual and team success."
"
Stephen Pierre delivered a standout performance, winning the high jump, placing second in the long jump, and breaking the school record in the hurdles—earning him Maine State Championship Field Athlete of the Meet honors, the first in program history," added Burleson. "His performance reflects the caliber of athlete he is and highlights the continued growth of our program."
