Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Saint Joseph's Routs Colby-Sawyer, 101-50

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (15-8, 10-0 GNAC) erupted for 20 three-pointers and overwhelmed Colby-Sawyer College (2-21, 1-9 GNAC), 101-50, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's basketball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon.

Saint Joseph's, which has now won 12 consecutive games, established a new team record with 51 three-pointers attempted in the victory, as 10 different Monks knocked down at least one shot from downtown. Senior John Paul Frazier (York, Maine) led the long-range barrage, drilling 6-of-9 attempts from deep.

With his fourth three-pointer of the game, Frazier became just the third player in program history to reach 300 made triples in a career, joining Nick Curtis '23 (315) and Stephen Chase '93 (311) on the program's exclusive list.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Joseph's seized control immediately, opening the contest with a 14-2 burst. The Monks kept their foot on the gas throughout the first half and stretched the margin to 20, 31-11, when senior Wani Donato (Portland, Maine) finished a Tong Maiwen (Juba, South Sudan) feed with a dunk at the 5:15 mark. By the break, Saint Joseph's had doubled up the Chargers, taking a commanding 40-20 advantage into halftime.

Any thought of a comeback was erased in the middle of the second half, when the Monks delivered the knockout punch with a 20-2 run. The decisive surge featured six three-pointers and turned the game into a rout, pushing the lead to 75-32 with 10:04 left as Saint Joseph's cruised the rest of the way.

TEAM STATS:

The Monks won the battle on the glass, 52-26 and turned those rebounds into 34 second-chance points while also forcing 19 turnovers, which led to 24 points at the other end. Even with a modest gap in overall shooting (42.2% to 38.6%), the Monks' three-point volume and efficiency proved decisive, as the hosts hit 20 triples at a 39.2% clip compared to Colby-Sawyer's 3-for-12 (25.0%) effort from beyond the arc. Team depth also showed, as the Monks' bench outscored the Chargers' reserves, 36-2.
